Ball Games!

I have a great group of kids in my class that are what you might call... "sporty". I  have been working on coming up with a few new games they can play that will incorporate some of that energy and improve some skills we are practicing at...
So I brought in a basketball hoop. THEY LOVE IT!!!

First we think of a 2-4 letter word they can sound out. When they play, they can shoot, and if they get a hoop they have to write they next letter in the word on the white board.
When I'm brave enough to turn my room into a gym... it's a HIT!

Sing a Rainbow/Peter Cottontail

We are beginning to practice for our next service project performance at the assisted living in April. We are going to sing "I can sing a rainbow" and do sign language, and also sing "Peter Cottontail" with a cute dance. Here are links for the songs so you can listen at home... hopefully. :~)

Click on song below and it will connect you to the video on youtube!
Sing a Rainbow

We are not doing all the signs like they do on here. But we are trying to do most of them. You should have a printoff of the words also, and the children love to track the words while the song plays because they can "read" it!!!

Peter Cottontail

Have a great time with it!
If you are interested in watching them sing, we will probably be singing the week before Easter. More details to follow!

Suess on the Loose Day

While we continued celebrating Suess Week, we had a "Suess on the Loose" day... The children rotated from teacher to teacher doing silly and fun Suess books and activities in each room... One of the favorites was some silly foot activities with Miss Emileigh after they read The Foot Book!

Green Eggs and Ham

During our Suess Week we did several fun Dr. Suess activities celebrating his birthday. Monday we did several fish activities and we read One Fish Two Fish... Tuesday we did GREEN EGGS AND HAM!! Literally. After we read the book we played a tic tac toe with eggs and ham, and we cooked our own lunch... green eggs and ham. When it was time to eat, we got few funny faces, but they had a great time.

Preschool for Parents

They are measuring stuff with their snack...raisins.
We are super excited to pilot a new program in our area. For now we are calling it Preschool for Parents... I hope you were there. It was a blast!
Parents, Grandparents, Babysitters, and adults in these little guys lives are always welcome to join in! These are some fun things we did:

This is a little guy, his dad, and his "PuhPuh".(G-Pa)       They are playing a math game.

More snack time...
This was completely adorable... a little guy and his grandpa are having a tea party!!!!

These guys are exploring colors and physical properties with the light table and some building disks...

This brave dad sat down for a round of memory... we are learning to match capitals with lower case, and they had a huge game of 52 cards going!

10 in the bed

We did a small unit on bears a few weeks ago. The kids absolutely loved it. One day we did the nursery rhyme,"10 in the bed". We started with the finger play, then we got a huge sheet out and actually laid 10 preschoolers out on the "bed". We sang: 10 in the bed and the little one said "Roll over, Roll over." They all rolled over and one fell off... One preschooler would fall of the bed and we would count down. It was hilarious and they loved it.

After we finished that, we had Teddy grahams, and a bed board. They put ten in the bed and we sang it all over again. But this time when we said they all rolled over and one fell off, he fell right into our mouths!

A Visit from the Queen of Hearts

We were super lucky to have the queen of hearts come to school today and read us a story... We had a great time listening to her silly songs and her fun stories! We do love that crazy library lady!

We sang about LOVE... and the kids were hilarious.
